History
Dr Christopher Rawson Penfold and his wife arrived in Australia in 1844. There they built a cottage, where he set up his medical practice. That is how the story begins. They planted the vine cuttings they had brought with them on the voyage.
The young vineyard was officially established as the Penfolds wine company
at Magill Estate.
