History
Château Rocheyron takes its name from the locality's original name, "Roucheyron". Part of the property once belonged to Château Laroque, and its history is linked to that of its Grand Cru Classé neighbour.
In 2010, two friends, Silvio Denz and Peter Sisseck, bought Château Rocheyron in Saint-Émilion.
Danish-born Peter Sisseck, after working as a winemaker in Bordeaux and with a degree in agricultural engineering in his pocket, settled in Ribera del Duero in 1990 as a consultant oenologist. In 1995, he founded Dominio de Pingus and its first wine, Pingus, followed in 2007 by the Bodegas y Viñedos Alnardo project. In 2010, Château Rocheyron gave him the chance to rediscover Bordeaux's great wines and terroir.
Friendship, terroir and passion
Silvio Denz, a perfume creator and art collector, owns Art et Fragrance and Lalique. A wine lover, he became a partner in two wine merchants in Zurich, Switzerland, including "Denz Weine"; at the time, he owned Château Péby Faugères and Château Faugères in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru AOC, and Château Cap de Faugères in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux AOC. He is also a partner in Montepeloso in Tuscany, Italy, and Clos d'Agon in Catalonia, Spain.
It is a story of friendship, terroir, and passion that began at Château Rocheyron in 2010. Peter Sisseck and Silvio Denz could not resist producing the very best wines from this small, outstanding terroir, made entirely of limestone plateau and close to Grand Cru Classé Château Laroque.
