The estate
The small Lafont Fourcat estate, revived in 1993 by Paul-Marie Morillon, who tends it like a garden, produces wines that offer excellent value for money. It covers 8 hectares of clay-limestone and clay-silt soils, with terraced vines averaging 30 years old, not far from Saint-Émilion.
Château Lafont Fourcat is probably one of the best-value wines in Bordeaux, thanks to the talent and meticulous work of its owner, who also consults for famous Bordeaux estates, including Valandraud.
Two leading figures in French wine
Two important figures in French wine are behind Château Lafont Fourcat 2018: Paul-Marie Morillon as winemaker, and Jean-Luc Thunevin, owner of the legendary Château Valandraud, Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion and father of the "garage wine" movement, who handles its distribution. Their combined talent and know-how have produced an interesting project, whose flagship is this remarkable blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec: a red that surprises with its quality and its keen price.
