History

The oldest document the family holds on its history is dated 17 June 1395. It records that the Lord of Gelida granted an emphyteusis (a long-term lease) over the Mas de la Torrevella (where the Can Martí estate and its farmhouses, Can Martí de Baix and Can Martí de Dalt, stand today) to their direct ancestor Jaume Miquel, with "all its houses, buildings, fields, vines, lands, woods, orchards, honours and other possessions, waters, aqueducts, entrances and exits, and all its rights and belongings that are of the Mas or shall belong to it in future, whatever they may be".
More recent history links to their great-grandfather, Marc Mir, the centenary of whose death was marked in 2004. His generosity made it possible to replant vineyards in the Penedès after the phylloxera plague that ruined the region at the end of the 19th century.

For this reason his merits were recognised in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia with a monument in the town hall square and a street bearing his name.

From 1951, their father, Francisco Torelló, anticipating the country's economic change, steered the family's traditional farming business towards industrial winemaking, starting to produce sparkling wine and bottled wine from the grapes of the Can Martí estate.
