History

Since 1870, over five generations, the family has devoted itself to growing vines and to making and ageing the finest Rioja wines, keeping alive the knowledge and tradition handed down from parents to children, while always adapting them to technological advances and respect for the land and the vine.
Guillermo Eguren sees himself above all as a collector of vineyards. That is how his sons, Marcos and Miguel Eguren, have understood it, making excellence in vineyard care and the utmost respect for the fruit in the cellar their philosophy for wines that stand the test of time.
These are wines in the new classic mould: wines that endure over time, combining fruit, power and structure with elegance, freshness and subtlety.

Sierra Cantabria, Viñedos Sierra Cantabria, Señorío de San Vicente and Viñedos de Páganos make up the family's projects in the DOCa Rioja, alongside its presence in Toro with Teso La Monja and Dominio de Eguren for wines from vineyards in Spain's main wine regions.
Sierra Cantabria is the mother winery, reflecting the family's leap from growers to winemakers thanks to the business vision of Guillermo Eguren, who, without losing his farming roots, wanted to convey the virtues of unique soils in a collection of wines.
The winery takes its name from this 1,200-metre mountain range, which shields the vineyards from cold northerly winds and creates a unique Atlantic-continental microclimate, with mild winters and gentle summers, giving its D.O.Ca. Rioja wines their distinctive trait.
