The Giuseppe Mascarello family has been growing vines for more than a century and a half: first as massari (tenant farmers) for the Marchioness Giulia Colbert Faletti di Barolo, managing the Cascina Manescotto in the commune of La Morra, and then, towards the end of the 19th century, on its own account.

The Mascarello family owns some 15 hectares of vineyards, all in the Barolo area. Some, such as MONPRIVATO, are already part of its history; for others, Mauro first bought the grapes and then, given their quality, set out to acquire the vineyards and succeeded.
