The Kientzler family has been growing vines in and around Ribeauvillé for five generations, since 1866. Winemaking was originally a sideline for the family, but by the mid-20th century it had become their main activity.
Today they own 13.8 hectares of vineyard, including 4.4 hectares of Grand Cru
mainly in Ribeauvillé, with further plots in Bergheim, Hunawihr and Riquewihr. Since 2009, Thierry and Eric Kientzler have run the business, the former in charge of the vineyards and the latter of sales.
