Propiedad Vitícola Casa Castillo sets out to produce wines with the personality, flavour and character of each individual plot. By raising quality while respecting local tradition, it makes wines that express the land and microclimate of its vineyards, the particular qualities of Mediterranean grape varieties and the human touch.

The family bought the winery in 1942; it had been built by the French in 1870. In 1985, the second generation (Nemesio and his son José María Vicente) began a new project, restructuring the vineyard and introducing new varieties.

In 1991, the winery building was renovated while respecting its original structure, and the first wine was made. It reached the market in 1993 as "Casa Castillo Crianza 1991". Today José María Vicente runs Propiedad Vitícola Casa Castillo.

The estate lies on the Jumilla plateau. It covers 402 hectares in total, of which only 174 are planted with vines; the rest is dedicated to almond and olive trees, as well as conserving scrubland and pine forest. The native Monastrell variety covers most of the vineyard, followed by Syrah, Garnacha and Cabernet Sauvignon.
