The Eguren family, originally from Rioja, discovered Toro and stayed, convinced of the potential of this land and of Tinta de Toro, a grape with great structure, able to convey the minerality of the soils but whose strong character must be understood and "tamed". Marcos Eguren knows it perfectly, as he showed with the wines of his first project in the area, Numanthia Termes: powerful wines, yet always subtle and elegant.

Teso La Monja has more than 100 hectares of ungrafted, native vines in Valdefinjas, Toro and Villabuena del Puente, up to 130 years old,

used to make its Alabaster and Teso La Monja wines.

The soils are very cool, clay-based, with limestone veins in the subsoil and abundant gravel on the surface. They face north and have very long growing cycles. All these features help preserve identity and achieve the freshness and elegance its wines are known for. Seeking the vineyard's natural balance, with small yields of 1,000 to 2,000 kg/ha, they make wines of the utmost purity and true to their terroir.
