The roots of Casar de Burbia, both the family's and those of its vines, are deeply tied to the Bierzo. It is a family winery founded by Nemesio Fernández Bruña, the first generation and father of the current owners.
The winery's own vineyards surround the mountain of Valtuille de Arriba, beside the Camino de Santiago.
They manage 26 hectares of mountain vineyard, work by hand according to the soil, and have converted to organic farming to pass down this legacy from generation to generation. From the outset, Casar de Burbia committed to careful winemaking: its wines are designed to age and gain complexity over time.
